This weekend the Gold Coast will be hosting the 2011 Australian Specialty Coffee Championships. The Championships will be held at the Gold Coast Food and Wine Show on Friday the 28th, Saturrday the 29th and Sunday the 30th January. El Salvador is the smallest nation in Central America, nestled in between Guatemala and Honduras. The Alvarez family have been growing coffee in El Salvador for over 100 years and across four generations.

Cupping Profile: Very sweet coffee with caramel, toffee, milk chocolate and molasses notes. It is syrupy with a lovely, soft, smooth mouthfeel, a medium body and muted acidity. It works beautifully as a sweet single estate espresso. Read more...

Roasted in WA – El Salvador La Batalla – Cup of Excellence 2010 – Lot 8

We are really lucky to have a limited quantity of El Salvador La Batalla coffee from the 2010 Cup of Excellence. This farm ranked number 5 last year and this year ranked in 8th place, establishing itself as one of the exceptional coffees from El Salvador. Some of the competition Jury descriptors for the flavour and aroma included : floral, honey, brown sugar, chocolate, spicy, fruit, grape, delicate perfume, almond, refined, elegant, a very long sweet finish.
