The 2010 National Barista Competition on Queensland’s Gold Coast was again an excellent display of the passions and talents of Australia’s top baristas.
With several events going on over a three day weekend, there was never a dull moment in the house.

Roasting, cupping, latte art, coffee in good spirits, and the Barista Comp, all had excellent entries, and support from the wider coffee community was in full force.

In 2010, the Australian barista comp saw Scott Callaghan taking first place with an exceptional performance, showcasing his coffee, skill, and a cardamon infused signature beverage. Scott pulled off a massive score of 685.

The first World Barista Competitions began in 2000. Since then Australian’s have won, and placed second in world competitions. I have no doubt, Australia will be well represented again by Scott at the 2010 World Barista Competition in London.

Simon James, the close runner-up will accompany and support our Australian Champ in London. Congratulations to all the barista’s – and good luck in London!
