Finally! The return of our very first direct trade coffee and it’s tasting spectacular!
Finca La Esperanza has a long history with Dimattina. Back in 2013 we selected their coffee from a line-up of around 50 samples in Nueva Segovia, Nicaragua. La Esperanza stood out as being the sweetest, cleanest and juiciest coffee on the table and we’ve been hooked ever since! We returned to Nicaragua the following year and continued building our relationship with producer Salatiel (Sala) and his family. Last year Sala’s son Samuel took over the operations of Finca La Esperanza, bringing his agronomical expertise to his father’s farm. Samuel has strict quality control procedures that allow his coffee to shine; he has seen great success in the annual Cup of Excellence competition, most recently in 2018 when his coffee placed 4th with a ‘presidential’ score of 90.23! We are very proud of our exclusive relationship with Samuel and are honoured to have two of his lots in our offering. In the cup you can expect to find notes of mandarin, hibiscus and dark chocolate. This is an extremely sweet and juicy coffee that is versatile enough for any brew method.
