A bright and bubbly coffee from the slopes of Mt Kenya!
Gituara washing station in central Kenya has been in operation since 1981 and works in partnership with around 840 smallholder producers. The region is rich with the highly sought after SL-28 and SL-34 varieties and combined with high altitude and rich volcanic soil, Gituara’s coffee is some of the most stunning we’ve had from Kenya. Factory manager Danson Kariuki employs meticulous quality procedures to ensure that only the highest quality coffee is exported. The coffee is washed in the traditional style and dried on raised beds; Gituara takes the added step of filtering and treating the waste water before it is returned to the eco-system for increased sustainability. In the cup you can expect intense green apple acidity, notes of blackcurrant and a smooth honey finish. Excellent for black coffee drinkers.
